About Me
Introducing Your STEM Tutoring Expert
Helping students across the UK achieve their academic goals
I’m Emily Carter, a physics graduate from Imperial College London with over 8 years of dedicated experience as a STEM tutor. My journey in education began during my university years when I discovered my natural ability to break down complex scientific concepts for my peers. What started as helping classmates prepare for exams evolved into a passionate career helping students across England excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
After completing my BSc in Physics with honours, I pursued additional certifications in education to enhance my teaching methodology. My combined background in advanced STEM subjects and educational techniques allows me to bridge the gap between complex academic content and accessible learning experiences.
My Approach to Teaching
I believe that effective learning happens when students feel both challenged and supported. My teaching philosophy centers on three core principles:
- Personalisation: Every student has unique learning styles, strengths, and challenges. I tailor my teaching methods accordingly, whether you’re a visual learner who benefits from diagrams and models or someone who learns best through practical applications.
- Real-World Connection: STEM subjects come alive when students understand their relevance. I incorporate everyday examples and hands-on projects into my lessons—from using probability to analyse sports statistics to applying chemistry concepts to cooking experiments.
- Building Confidence: Many students approach STEM subjects with apprehension. My goal is to create a supportive environment where questions are welcomed and mistakes are viewed as valuable learning opportunities.
Areas of Expertise
As an experienced tutor, I’m well-positioned to offer expert help with the following subjects:

Success Stories
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with amazing students who have achieved remarkable results:
Sarah
Sarah, who once struggled with mathematical concepts, discovered a passion for statistics and is now pursuing data science
Emma
Initially hesitant about computing, Emma created her first app after six months of lessons
Alex
Alex improved from a predicted C to an A* in A-Level Physics and now studies Engineering at the University of Manchester
James
James and his team won their school’s science fair with a project we developed together on renewable energy
Beyond Tutoring
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me attending science exhibitions, participating in local STEM outreach programs at schools, or working on my own coding projects. I believe in lifelong learning and continually update my knowledge through professional development courses and research.
I’m passionate about increasing diversity in STEM fields and regularly volunteer with organizations that encourage young women and underrepresented groups to pursue science and technology careers.
